THE very exciting era for Wonthaggi Secondary College soon-to-be Bass Coast College continues with the release of the new college logos this week.

It comes as construction of the new San Remo Campus continues at-a-pace.

“We are very pleased to share with our community the new logo for Bass Coast College. Both the name and the logo officially commence at the start of 2022,” WSC principal Darren Parker said today.

“The logo, which has been endorsed by the college council, incorporates elements from submissions made by students in a competition held last term. The winning entry was from Sophie Gwynne of year 8.

“Other highly commended submissions came from Billie Orpin (year 9), Bianca Berry (year 11) and Lincoln Harris (year 9).

“Congratulations to all of these students and thank you to everyone who participated.”

The design itself closely follows the lead of the student competition winning entry, Mr Parker said.

“The retention of the red line triangle and wave concept from the current WSC logo allows a sense of continuity and acknowledgement of our proud history.

“The wave concept has been altered to incorporate a mountain theme and a bird design included to encompass broader elements of the local environment.”

Further adaptations will occur so that it is accessible for letterheads, email signatures, advertising, uniform updates and so on, he said.

“We are proud to share this with you; it is very symbolic of the inclusiveness and history we are proud to represent as part of our expansion across the Bass Coast Area. Our San Remo Campus opens in 2022 and we look forward to sharing that with you in the near future too,” Mr Parker said.
