THE Wonthaggi United Soccer Club, like many local sporting clubs, disappointingly had it season cut short due to COVID-19 restrictions.
However, that did not stop them celebrating their achievements in 2021.
The Club came together for one last training session on Thursday evening, to finalise their season and celebrate the individual achievements of their players.
The U12 team finished on top of the ladder in the Gippsland Soccer League U12 B division, remaining undefeated in 2021.
The spectator votes throughout the season were calculated and superstar midfielder Billie Peterson was awarded MVP.
The dedicated and talented Archie Moore was a very worthy recipient of the 2021 Coach’s award.
The Senior Women’s team under the watchful eye of super coach Olivia Methven once again had a very successful season.
Also finishing on the top of the ladder the 2021 the MVP was awarded to new recruit and brilliant striker Zoe Allen.
The Coach’s award was awarded to first time player Ania Todd for her dedication and hard work throughout the season.
Coach Darren Delforce was on hand to present the awards for the Mens team.
The ever-skillful April Htoo was awarded MVP and club stalwart and general legend Jason Torrens was awarded the Coaches award.
Laura Matthews was awarded the President’s Cup for Club Person of the year.
Laura gave up countless hours of personal time to raise over $2000 for the Club.
The Club is currently fundraising for their new club rooms which are due to start construction in 2022, if anyone is interested in assisting, please contact the Club.
The Club is looking forward to Season 2022 and is holding their AGM on 6pm Tuesday, November 9 at the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club if anyone is interested in attending.
