AFTER competition was cancelled last week due to the rain and a wet track, Leongatha Little Athletics welcomed another bumper crowd on Saturday.

The second competition of the season saw 132 athletes take to the track, with the older athletes participating in the 800 metres and circular hurdles. The younger age groups sped through the 50 metres and 700 metres.

It was another week of huge numbers for trial athletes. Athletes that haven’t participated previously are entitled to two trial days prior to registering. Trial athletes can participate any time throughout the season.

As athletics is a volunteer-run sport, all parents are required to help in some way. It has been an amazing couple of weeks to see so many parents, new and returning, step out of their comfort zone and assist in any way they can. The athletes really appreciate and enjoy having their parents involved in their sport.
