Foster’s A Grade finals appearance last year has everyone at the club excited for the upcoming season.

FOSTER’S first A Grade finals berth in almost 20 years has the entire playing group galvanised ahead of the upcoming season.

And they didn’t just make the numbers up in that finals series, they had eventual premiers Koonwarra extremely worried when they broke through for a few early wickets.

The excitement off that solid finals performance has rolled onto this season according to president Billy Davy.

“We’ve had 15 or 16 at training since the middle of August. A Grade making finals last year has sparked everyone up,” Davy said.

Their A Grade squad has also been bolstered by quick bowler Jack Gay and they haven’t lost anyone, so another finals appearance is well and truly on the cards.

Richard Johnston will be coaching the senior side and he may have a few more players in mind to bring into the mix.

Gun all-rounder Josh Toner will captain A Grade, much to the delight of many at the club.

The club will be hoping their B Grade team can improve like their A Grade side and get off the bottom of the ladder, and the captaincy of Brandon Busuttil will certainly help that.

And to add to the excitement around the club, there is significant plans in place to extend their club rooms.

“We’re just in the process now, we’re just about to apply for grants and hopefully double the size of the rooms.”

With the new division structures, they’re no guarantees to be back in the finals, but early indications show they’re more than ready for any challenge thrown their way this year.
