It was distressing to read the letter ‘Homeless left waiting’ that highlighted the housing crisis in Bass Coast.

A group of community members, ‘Housing Matters’, who originally got together when the Miners Rest caravan park was closing, have been meeting at the Wonthaggi Neighbourhood Centre to discuss housing problems such as homelessness and affordable housing.

‘Housing Matters’ has organised a public meeting on Saturday, December 4, at 1pm at the Wonthaggi Baptist Church to share what we know about the state government’s $25 million Big Housing Build and how to try and ensure the best outcome for the local community including where the houses should be built and the employment of local workers and apprentices.

We urge you to join us to raise questions and share your thoughts and ideas.
