WONTHAGGI Club has chased down Koonwarra L/RSL’s massive total at Koonwarra Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

After the Cougars won the toss and batted, Sam Hughes was seeing them very nicely, anchoring their innings while others aimed for quick runs.

Ben Walsh 38 and Isuru Wickramasinghe 26 put on some quick runs through the middle and with Hughes finishing on 78, the Cougars got to 6/213 after 40 overs.

Emmet Dempsey 33 and Sam Huitema 50 opened the batting for Club, and they got off to a brilliant start, putting together an 86-run partnership.

Alex Geyer 41 arrived at the crease after Dempsey departed and when Koby Brann 25 teamed up with him, the runs came thick and fast.

With a few still to get, captain James Sheerin 14* and Dave Britt 16* smashed a few balls to the boundary, getting Club over the line in the 38th over with four wickets remaining.

Cleeland’s century tears down Town

AN unbeaten century from Phillip Island’s Lachie Cleeland put his side into a dominant position against Leongatha Town on Saturday.

Town won the toss and sent in the home side, a decision they would’ve been regretting when Cleeland and Eli Richards 45 got the score past 100 before a wicket fell.

Richards was eventually dismissed, bringing the opening partnership to an end at 113, but Daniel Mock 42 kept punishing the opposition and they finished at 3/216 after 40 overs.

Town’s chase didn’t get off to the start they would’ve hoped for, but Ron Abeysinghe was in fine form at first drop.

He worked his way to 67, but his teammates couldn’t reach his heights and they finished their 40 overs at 8/150, going down but 66 runs.

Stingrays stifle Diggers

INVERLOCH has defended another small total in A1, this time keeping OMK to just 79 runs.

Inverloch batted first and decent scores from Tom McQualter 26 and Jake Dennerley 22 saw them sneak past 100, but brilliant bowling from OMK captain/coach Ryan Williams had them all out for 126.

Williams finished with 4/18 off eight, but he couldn’t replicate his form with the bat, as his side’s chase got off to a shaky start.

No OMK batter could score over 15 and with some slick work in the field, they were all out for 79.

Callum Asbury and Eli Cousins both finished with three wickets each, with their spells proving crucial in Inverloch’s 47 run win.

Sameera seals win for Imps

SUMUDU Sameera has single-handily scored the 12 points for Leongatha Imperials against Nerrena, with a brilliant all-round performance.

Nerrena batted first after winning the toss at the Leongatha Recreation Reserve and Damien Symmons 42 had them off to a nice start.
Tim Wightman 41* was also seeing them nicely but Sameera started to inflict damage with the ball.

He took 4/24 off eight overs and Nerrena finished their 40 overs at 9/126.

In Leongatha’s run chase Dimthri Perera 24 got some runs away early and when Sameera arrived at four, he put the game out of question.

He blasted 65 off 70 balls and was not out when the Imperials passed Nerrena three wickets down in the 31st over.
