WONTHAGGI Sangrok Judo Club was successful at the recent Judo competition held in Keysborough.

Two members won gold while two others won silver medals.

This was an excellent start back to competition after two years in COVID lockdown.

All four won through the preliminary rounds to reach the final.

Josh Lee and Shay Campbell, competing for the first time, surprised everyone by both reaching the final. Neither were intimidated by their more experienced opponents and put in very solid performances, even though they were defeated, to finish with silver medals.

Club stalwarts Tahlia Blackman and Jacob Singleton won their divisions after very hard-fought final contests, to add to their gold medal collections.

This was an outstanding performance by these players and a fitting reward for the efforts they put in at training, and enduring multiple COVID lockdowns.
