Divisive tactics won’t build Nyora

1 min read

CAMPAIGNING that attempts to divide our community, based on where our residents call home, is not needed. Councillors have an important role to represent the whole of their ward and furthermore work for the whole Shire. It’s certainly not an easy task.

Recent claims that this Council is not focused on the future of Nyora, simply put, is misleading.

A targeted planning workshop involving all Councillors and Council senior staff has occurred and progress on the Nyora Development Strategy is happening. The rezoning of land has occurred.

Council sought and was awarded grant funding to investigate development contribution options and funding is allocated in the 2023/24 budget to undertake the necessary review for future land changes.

Land acquisitions for community and council services will need to happen, including for early years education. I have advocated for Industrial Zoned Land to be made available for future economic growth and I also support a new road around the town centre.

Yes, a lot more money will need to be invested to significantly improve Nyora, anyone can see that. Nyora is set to receive a significant spend of Council’s Budget over the future years and that spend needs to be done right – something I certainly support and encourage.
