Dozens of Ausnet customers still without power

1 min read

PARTS of South Gippsland and Bass Coast weren’t out of the woods even after power was restored to most districts and towns by 3.30pm.

As reported on the Sentinel-Times’ Facebook page, power to some customers in Wonthaggi North and Inverloch didn’t go out until 5.30pm on Monday, January 27.

But the news wasn’t all bad.

“Ours (Nth Wonnie) went out at 5:30pm, but stayed on thanks to solar + battery,” she said.

“Power now out in Inverloch. Went off at 5.30pm… due to tree down near inlet hotel.”

Power came back on in rural areas around Wonthaggi after 5pm after being off for most of the day, one of the hottest this summer.

“Chopper flew over our place (Ryanston) not long ago… power restored here at 5:55pm,” said the social media contributor.

But as late as 7pm, dozens of Ausnet customers in Bass Coast and South Gippsland were still waiting for their power to come back on after almost 12 hours, including the following: Newhaven 29, Bass/Glen Forbes 31, Surf Beach/Newhaven 6, Leongatha South, Koonwarra and Pound Creek 97.
