Leongatha health food store owner shares local law details

1 min read

Owner of Health and Whole Foods Leongatha, Suzi Bath, chose to act after hearing that many community members are unaware of South Gippsland Shire Council’s proposed new local laws and the opportunity to provide their views before those laws are finalised.

On Wednesday, Suzi used her shop windows to display a council document comparing the soon-to-expire General Local Law 2014 document with the current draft version of the General Local Law 2024.

People have until today, November 9 to submit comments on proposed new local laws through council’s Your Say site or by visiting their council office.

Suzi said she is not making any statement about the local laws or expressing concerns.

“My reason for putting it up in our shop is that people didn’t know about it,” she explained, saying that way nobody walking past the Bair Street premises can say they didn’t know prior to the cutoff for feedback.

The community-minded window display was attracting plenty of attention during the Sentinel-Times brief Thursday visit.

Suzi noted that everyone has their own interpretation of various laws.
