Local talent shines in Bright Star opening this evening!

AUDIENCES will be swept away by the enchanting musical "Bright Star," produced by The Wonthaggi Theatrical Group in their very own theatre at The State Coal Mine. This heartwarming production, featuring an incredible cast of local talent, promises to be an unforgettable night of music, storytelling, and emotion.

Director Karen Milkins-Hendry was full of praise for her 18 performers, 10-piece band and passionate crew.  “I am constantly amazed at the level of skill and talent right on our doorstep bringing to life a demanding piece of love, laughter and redemption”.

"Bright Star," written by the renowned Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, weaves a tale of love, hope, and the power of dreams set against the backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and '40s. With its bluegrass-inspired score and poignant lyrics, the show invites you on a journey through joy and heartbreak, reminding us all of the enduring spirit of resilience.

Everyone involved has poured their hearts into this production, showcasing not only their remarkable singing and acting talents but also the vibrant creativity that exists within our community. You'll see familiar and new faces, each bringing their unique flair and passion to the stage.
