LEONGATHA Knights Football Club’s Summer Go Fives Competition is back for another exciting eight weeks.

The five-a-side competition will kick off on October 23 and 24 at Mary Mackillop Catholic Regional College, Leongatha.

The U14 girls, women’s, and mixed social teams will play on Wednesdays, and the U12 mixed, U14 mixed, and mixed competitive teams will play on Thursdays.

This year, the club is introducing an U10s competition due to increased interest from junior players.

Last year, the competition had its most successful year with 213 participants and additional comps introduced across multiple age groups.

“Participation increased significantly last year,” Knights’ junior development coordinator Bethany Milkins said.

“It’s a fun, social way for us to end our season. It’s low commitment, which is more appealing for those who didn’t play during the season and just want to have a run. We have some great family teams getting involved and it’s just a really nice atmosphere.”

The cost is $50 for junior players and $60 for senior players.

The U14 girls’ competition has been subsidised and will cost players $30.

However, individuals are still welcome to register their interest – there are plenty of teams looking for players.
