MIDWEEK

THE brave turned up at Lang Lang in the rain with great hopes of getting a few ends of bowls in for the day.
We managed 26 ends over two games in perfect winter weather.
Our elder statesman Bill had a bit of a moment with some excellent donations to the RCH tin.
Many thanks to Bill for his generosity, I am certain these are planned donations from some of our best players.

This week’s winners on 35pts:
Tony Heppleston (S), Frank d’Unienville (3) and Peter Thorley (L).

Runners-up on 32pts:
Ken Barnes (S), Peter McWilliams and Lindsay Russell (3) and Michael Saunders (L).

Best One Game with 18pts:
John Nicholson (S), Phil Wright (3), Peter Taylor (L)

Many thanks to all our brave members who have turned up in the past two weeks, when it looked doubtful that we would even get a game in.
Thank you to Colin from Lang Lang Bowls club who set up the green, looked after the bar, helped in the kitchen and also jumped in to sub when one of our bowlers had to leave at lunch time.
Thank you also to Laurie who cleared up the green and helped in the kitchen.
Next week we will be at Corinella at 10am for a 10:30am start.
For more information contact Peter McWilliams on 5678 5974. Everyone is welcome.
Also, just a reminder that Corinella hosts this Saturdays match at 12pm for a 12:30pm start.

INVERLOCH

A GREAT night was had by all on our Friday Night Meal last week.
More than 40 patrons attended and were treated to a delicious two-course meal.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who make nights like this happen.
Don’t forget to book in early for a next one on July 1.
Our volunteers that look after our greens have been putting in overtime, and the greens look fantastic despite all the wet weather that they have had to contend with.
Thursday’s Social Bowls was a hotly contested affair with the winning team scrapping in by a point. With two wins and 33 points was the team of Mal Marshall, Terry Seaward and Bill Cavanagh.

WONTHAGGI

WE did manage to get one day of bowls this week, with Saturday being a good day.
A very good number of bowlers took to the greens, 36 in fact, with some visitors from Inverloch to enjoy the day.
The format for the day was three bowl triples over two games of 10 ends.
The winners were an easy decision with only one team winning two games.
That team consisted of Paul Holmes, Wally Leijen and Aldo Sartori.
They had a score of two wins and 32 points.
The runners up were like a Melbourne Cup field, with a number of teams having one win and one loss.
However, the score that was the best of the rest was the team of Jim Martin, Scott Miller and Fred Kellow with a score of one win,  21 points and 9 shots up.
Don't be afraid to have a roll on the Carpet Bowls mat which is down in the clubhouse.
Bowls this week: Wednesday social bowls at 12.30pm and Saturday social bowls at 12.30pm.
Also don't forget Friday night for a catch up with friends.
