The Inverloch Returned and Services League (RSL) Sub Branch is celebrating a momentous achievement, having successfully obtained two grants from the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH). The grants aim to enhance the support provided to veterans and their families in the local community through a comprehensive fitness and wellbeing program and the creation of a meaningful mural.

The first grant, awarded to Inverloch RSL in collaboration with Broadbeach Inverloch Health Club, ensures full access to the gym facilities. This 12-month program offers veterans and their families the opportunity to maintain their physical health and overall wellbeing. In addition to regular gym usage, two exclusive RSL Active classes will be provided, tailored to the specific needs of veterans. By promoting an active lifestyle and fostering a sense of community, this initiative aims to improve the lives of those who have served the nation.

“We are thrilled to partner with Broadbeach Inverloch Health Club and the Victorian Government to provide an outstanding fitness and wellbeing program for our veterans and their families,” said Ross Gabb, President of Inverloch RSL.

“This grant enables us to support their physical health goals while nurturing a strong network of camaraderie and support within the community.”

The second grant awarded to Inverloch RSL will facilitate the creation of a beautiful mural at the newly blessed commemorative garden in the heart of Inverloch Cemetery. The thoughtfully designed mural will pay tribute to the exceptional service and sacrifices made by veterans throughout the years including the Women’s Land Army. It will serve as a poignant reminder of their dedication and selflessness while offering RSL members and their families a peaceful space for reflection.

The commemorative garden, adorned with the mural, will not only honour the past but also inspire future generations to appreciate the contributions of veterans. The tranquil atmosphere will provide a comforting sanctuary where families and fellow servicemen and women can gather to remember, pay respects, and find solace amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

“Inverloch RSL is deeply indebted to the Victorian Government for their generosity and understanding in granting us the funds to create this beautiful mural,” expressed Lindsay Guerin, Secretary of Inverloch RSL.

“The commemorative garden will be a place of solace and gratitude, allowing our community to not only remember but also celebrate the lives of those who have served selflessly. We appreciate the support we get from Jordan Crugnale, our local MP.”

The Inverloch RSL is committed to continuing its unwavering support for veterans and their families, recognising the importance of physical and emotional well-being. With these grants, the RSL aims to build a strong foundation for the future, fostering an environment of inclusivity, respect, and appreciation.

The grants from the Victorian Government DFFH serve as a testament to Inverloch RSL’s dedication and the broader community’s commitment to honouring and nurturing the well-being of those who have served our great nation. Together, they are working to make a positive impact on the lives of veterans and their families.
