Minor to moderate flooding possible for South Gippsland

1 min read

A final Flood Watch has been issued for South Gippsland rivers with the threat being downgraded by VicEmergency, however minor flooding with isolated moderate flooding is still possible.

A low about eastern Bass Strait will move northeastwards and weaken today, with a series of associated troughs over the southern parts of the State. This will bring showers, tending to rain, across the flood watch area.

Catchments in South Gippsland area are relatively wet and river level rises are occurring in places.

Further rainfall totals of 20 - 30 mm with isolated higher totals about the ranges are possible for the remainder of Tuesday into Wednesday across the Flood Watch area.

Further river level rises and areas of flooding may develop across South Gippsland rivers during Tuesday and Wednesday.

While the threat of flooding is reduced and people can now return to normal activity, stay aware of any hazards that may still exist in the warning area.
