1 min read

GROUND was broken this afternoon at Ovata Place in Inverloch as state and local government representatives marked the official start of the Inverloch to Wonthaggi trail project.

The Minister for Planning, Sonia Kilkenny, joined Jordan Crugnale MP, Greg Box, CEO of Bass Coast Shire Council and Mayor Clare Le Serve this afternoon with shovels in hand to symbolically dig the first portion of the long awaited trail.

The offroad path will provide a connection between the two towns and new opportunities for recreation and transport links, for locals and tourists alike.

The trail will be 14 kilometres long and is expected to be completed by March 2026.

The cost of the project is $7.7 million, with a contribution of $3 million from the Growing Suburbs fund and $4.7 million from the Bass Coast Shire Council.
