Santa makes a splash in the PIBC Aggregate 3 competition

By PIBC President Jake Eisen

SATURDAY, December 21 Phillip Island Boardriders Club (PIBC) in addition to their Longboard 3 and Supergroms 3, also held their Aggregate 3 competition and Christmas presentation. Aggregate 3 competition included high-energy performances with 120 competitors and an incredible 12 hours of surfing kicking off at sunrise.

Setting the tone for the day, President Jake Eisen dressed as Santa and made a splash in the Open Men's Division. Despite the challenge of surfing in a heavy suit, “Santa” not only brought plenty of laughs but also made it through his heat, pumping up the kids and spreading festive cheer. Earlier in the week, ten-year-old PIBC grom Eddie Maier wrote a letter to Santa asking if it was really him surfing in his heat?

By lunchtime Christmas hats were everywhere at the competition, adding to the fun-filled atmosphere, with the finals live streamed by Carve Media. The waves were challenging, but the standard of surfing was exceptional. A special shout-out went to the PIBC groms who stepped up and showed resilience in tough conditions including Phoenix Stedman, Amelia Mahon, Savannah Bennett, and junior boys Denver Predice-Firth and Tavish Mahon.

After the surfing competitions all of PIBC gathered back at their clubhouse to celebrate the last competitions for the year and had another visit from Santa - this time on the back of the Phillip Island CFA truck with presents for the PIBC groms. Live music from local Band Sole Butter also filled the clubrooms, bringing the PIBC community together for a shared end of year celebration.
