Korumburra improvements continue to take shape

1 min read

WORKS to replace the toilet block and shelter at the Wayside Stop in the Korumburra Railway Precinct are nearing completion.

It’s all part of a busy construction scene in the centre of the town with footpaths and parking bays among the assets getting a full makeover.

The Wayside Stop project between the post office and Kelly’s Bakery included:

• Demolition of the existing toilet block and replacement with a new structure featuring individual

cubicles and a Changing Places facility.

• Replacement of the current shelter with a new bigger one featuring picnic tables, BBQ, drinking fountain, power and lighting.

• Relocation of the existing shelter within the Precinct, ensuring continued use for the community.

The new combined toilet and shelter structure has been carefully designed to complement the existing heritage buildings, providing enhanced accessibility and convenience for community members and visitors alike.

The facility will be connected via pathways to future stages of the Railway Precinct development, including the playground and Skate Park.

The Changing Places facility will be the first of its kind in South Gippsland, offering essential amenities for locals and travellers with a disability.

In addition, the old Rotary shelter has been repurposed and relocated to the north-west end of the site, near the proposed long vehicle parking, to ensure that the Shelter remains an asset for the community.
