Toora boat ramp closed from February 20 for jetty works

THE Toora jetty and boat ramp will be closed from Monday, February 20 to prepare the site for the installation of a new jetty.

Replacement of the jetty is expected to take up to two weeks.

The new jetty will be pontoon style, similar to the current jetty.

The replacement follows an inspection of the existing jetty by a structural engineer, which identified a number of issues. It was determined that a full replacement would be the most appropriate treatment.

South Gippsland Shire Council contributed $40,000 towards the replacement, with $210,000 funded by Better Boating Victoria.

Cr Nathan Hersey, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council was pleased to see that the work was set to start.

“We are pleased that this work is about to commence and would like to thank Better Boating Victoria for their significant contribution. The Toora jetty provides great access to fishing in Corner Inlet and I’m sure many boaters will be keen to use this new facility. We would like to thank everyone for their patience during the replacement works.”
