NINETEEN vehicles are responding to a bushfire in Nyora near Hills Road and Forrest Drive with multiple ultra-light tankers from Bass Coast and South Gippsland at the scene.
It’s understood CFA was called to a grass and scrub fire on Hills Road in Nyora at around 11.13am this morning, Friday, August 30.
Due to the location of the fire, in muddy paddocks, ultra-light tankers have been called in to assist and gain access to the fire.
Multiple firefighting appliances are on Forrest Drive with local firefighters explaining that the potential for wind to pick up and a number of houses along the road is of particular concern.
A smoke warning was issued at 1.10pm for residents and those travelling through the area south-west to the fire's location.
