COINCIDING with National Police Remembrance Day, Blue Ribbon Day will take place across Victoria tomorrow (September 29).

Blue Ribbon Day is a chance for the community to say thank you to those who protect and serve our community and ensure that those who have fallen are never forgotten.

The Foundation first launched Blue Ribbon Day in 1999, after the outpouring of community support for Senior Constable Rodney Miller and Sergeant Gary Silk who were tragically killed on August 16, 1998.

Since, 175 Victoria Police Officers have died in the line of duty and tomorrow, we remember these brave men and women and say thank you to all Victoria Police officers for their work in serving and protecting our community.

Proceeds from Blue Ribbon Day help fund projects named in the honour of fallen officers. Building new and improved emergency facilities in Victorian hospitals including the Alfred Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Dandenong Hospital and Frankston Hospital amongst a number of other metro and regional hospitals.

"We remember lives by saving others.

"The Foundation is so grateful for the support of the Victorian community, Victoria Police members, veterans, and families and our 17 volunteer branches," the Blue Ribbon Foundation noted.

"With their amazing support, we have proudly contributed over $12 million to our Victorian public hospitals."

The district 2023 National Police Remembrance Day and Blue Ribbon Day memorial service will take place tomorrow (Friday, September 29) at Warragul RSL, 94 Albert Road, Warragul.

Blue Ribbon Day pins are available at police stations across Bass Coast and South Gippsland, including Leongatha and Wonthaggi branches.
