Political party games

1 min read

A sure sign that a federal election is not far off came with former treasurer of the Victorian branch of the Liberal Party, Julian Glynn’s letter to the Sentinel Times last week.

Well done to the editor for pointing out Mr. Glynn’s past affiliation as it gives context to the game being played here.

Rather than spending time refuting the numerous calculated claims aimed at denigrating good people trying to genuinely represent their electorate with childish tit for tat, I would prefer to remind the reader that such letters are a part of that political game major parties play to stay in power and which Independents consistently threaten with an integrity less seen by the ideologically bound.

And as one of the world’s great story tellers once wrote, ‘A lie goes around the world before truth gets its pants on.’
