Rail trail maintenance success

I WOULD like to thank Bass Coast Shire Council for organising the maintenance of the rail-trail between Wonthaggi and Kilcunda during December.

They [the Shires contractors] have rebuilt the trail between South Dudley Road and Powlett Road resulting in a well-drained, well cambered, all-weather track which gets a lot of use by locals and visitors to the Bass Coast every day of the week.

The third rail-trail bridge across the Powlett flood plain has also been totally rebuilt as the old one was in a state of collapse late last year.

The refurbished trail was enjoyed by young and old over the school holidays and maintenance was achieved with a minimum of disruption.

Edward Minty, North Wonthaggi
