And if you are coming to Phillip Island for the weekend, don’t forget to pack your binoculars.

You may be lucky enough to marvel at these majestic giants as they meander through the coastal waters around Phillip Island, with great vantage points all the way from Eagles Nest at Inverloch to the Nobbies on Phillip Island.

From May to September the island plays host to humpback whales, southern right whales and occasionally killer whales, and in June our community joins in celebration and appreciation for the spectacular natural attractions right here in our backyard.

Take to the open oceans on a whale-watching cruise or follow the Whale Discovery Trail and stop at iconic bays, headlands and beaches to enjoy magnificent views as you search for whales. Either way, have your camera ready as you spot these mysterious creatures surfacing, breathing, diving and breaching through the waves.

Give yourself a moment or more to connect and recharge in nature, and then wrap your mittens around a hot beverage as you explore the Festival hub and program of exciting whale and nature-based activities.

The whole island gets a little wild about whales and whether it’s whale art, whale illuminations, life-sized whales, whale stories or whale cocktails, there are fun ways for people of all ages to participate in better understanding and protecting Victoria’s marine environment.

Be inspired by conservation as our festival aims to be environmentally sustainable and encourages all people to play their part in a future for humans and animals alike on our delicate earth.

Settle into the island pace as you explore our relaxed villages, from cosy wine bars to exceptional local handcrafted produce. Make lasting family memories with fun-filled activities in every direction, get to know more of the local wildlife including penguins and koalas, or jump aboard adventure activities like an exhilarating scenic helicopter ride.
