High and wide praise for Sundays at Archies Creek

2 min read

THEY must be doing something right, a lot right at the Archies Creek Hotel after earning the high praise of renowned Irish folk singer-songwriter Luka Bloom who called by last Sunday as part of his Australian tour which next heads to Canberra and Brisbane.

When publishing a great photo of his band and the Archies Creek crew on his social media pages, going out to thousands of fans worldwide, he described the Archies Creek gig as his best Sunday afternoon ever, and that’s saying something surely, coming from the home of pub music.

Initially reluctant to get up and leave Melbourne after a big Saturday night, Bloom was ecstatic with the welcome he received from the switched on Archies Creek team, and 300 appreciative music fans.

“The thought of a 3.30pm show did not fill me with joyful anticipation but then we arrived at this incredibly unique venue, The Archies Creek Hotel, and had the best Sunday afternoon EVER!! The sound was great; the audience was awesome, in the afternoon sun, I could see everyone.

“These are the people who are the heartbeat of every successful musical gathering anywhere,” he said of the team at Archies Creek, insisting they join him for a photo out the front.

And it’s on again this Sunday, March 3 with the fantastic 9-piece, contemporary soul, blues, calypso and rock’n’roll band ‘Jazzparty’ back again at Archies Creek for a Sunday afternoon show, with special guest Tracey Miller.

Vocalist Loretta Miller and band leader saxophone player Darcy McNulty are no strangers to Archies Creek having spent the Covid lockdown in the area with family members and along the way developing a love for Bass Coast and the Archies Creek valley in particular.

There are plenty of tickets left for what will be another great Sunday afternoon, with kids under 12 free.
