A harmonious ride to school

1 min read

NEWHAVEN College Principal Mr Tony Corr jumped on his bike on Friday morning to accompany approximately 157 students as they enjoyed the opportunity to ride to school on National Ride2School Day. The event was organised by the College’s MTB Academy, a group of very enthusiastic parents and students who are keen to encourage everyone to get on their bikes!

Mr Corr rode along Phillip Island Rd from Cape Woolamai, while another contingent rode from Cowes. Parents, friends, and older students supported the ride by guiding them safely to the school gates, by providing support vehicles and experienced rider leaders. Mr Corr’s bike suffered a flat tyre on the first leg, but dad Sean Cohoe saved the day by offering up his bike for Mr Corr to finish the ride. The ride concluded at the MTB pump track on campus, for a final bit of fun.

Once the day started, everyone donned their ‘splash of orange’ to support Harmony Day, the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Newhaven College embraced the 2025 theme of “Harmony- we all have a role to play” by celebrating Australia’s cultural diversity with different activities across the school.

Newhaven College thanks everyone who participated in these events. Go to the College website to learn more about the College’s MTB Academy.
