THE new Phillip Island CFA station appears to finally be set to open after years of delay.
The $2.3M station, which is located along Ventnor Road in Cowes, was originally slated for completion in spring during 2021.
However, weather and other factors have continued to hamper its progress.
CFA now anticipates the site will be ready for Phillip Island members to occupy by the end of February this year.
“Unseasonably wet weather leading up to Christmas has unfortunately continued to delay progress on the new Philip Island fire station, therefore preventing the brigade from vacating the current site,” a CFA spokesperson said.
“The new station is expected to be completed by early February, with the brigade moving in by the end of February, subject to their summer operational needs.
“CFA has a lease on the existing Fire Station property until June 2023, however we remain committed to work with the council to return the property to them as soon as we are able to.”
