Ava loves to dance

1 min read

ELEVEN year old Ava Privitera from Mardan loves to dance, and this was reiterated when Ava was chosen from 346 dancers for the ‘Love to Dance’ Award at the recent Moe Dance Eisteddfod.

The award was announced and presented to Ava during the Eisteddfod ceremony, which is in its 28th year and saw 1517 performances over eight days.

Ava is an accomplished dancer who has been training with Lisa Pellin Dancers (LPD) since she was two and half years old and is currently part of the U12 Performance Team, which involves Troupe work at various Eisteddfods throughout the year.

All genres of dance that are on offer, Ava participates in, including classical work with the Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD), and was awarded honours with distinction for her last three yearly exams and won the Victorian Mini Dancer in 2021 at ATOD’s State Scholars competition.

Ava learns the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet Russian syllabus Vaganova, jazz, tap, contemporary, acro and enjoys the musical theatre program, having performed in Frozen and The Little Mermaid with LPD.

Also learning and performing solos and duos from a young age, Ava enters many of the local Eisteddfods and performs duos with Daphne Van Hoorn, who both love to dance lyrical and jazz together.

Ava’s stack of previous awards include winning the eight and under 10 age aggregate at Casey Comps in 2022, the eight and Under 10 Adjudicator’s award at Moe Eisteddfod in 2021, nine and under 11 Star Dancer at the Gippsland Stars Dance competition in 2023 and the under 11 Runner Up Champion Dancer at the international Follow Your Dreams Dance competition.

She has also recently joined the Jason Coleman Ministry of Dance Modstar regional group that goes to Melbourne four times a year to take part in dance workshops of all genres.

Ava will continue her dance training at LPD and she aspires to bring her love of dancing to others one day by becoming a dance teacher herself.
