Bass Coast College and Newhaven Primary share in over $995,000 of maintenance funding

MEMBER for Bass, Jordan Crugnale, today announced that two schools in the Bass electorate are among 59 to receive a share of over $20 million in funding for essential maintenance projects under the Planned Maintenance Program (PMP).

Bass Coast College and Newhaven Primary School will receive $942,752 and $52,833 respectively.

The PMP provides funding to address high-priority maintenance issues across Victoria’s government schools and ensures they can undertake essential work in classrooms and other school buildings such as fixing roofs and replacing windows, painting, and resurfacing floors, as well as some external works like improving pathways.

“As I continue to work for a major upgrade for Bass Coast College’s Dudley campus, this funding is for the complete rebuild of 15 ramps and minor work on two ramps ensuring students have good safe access to facilities to match the quality education they receive,” Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale said.

“It is on top of the College’s recent $569,552 with the majority going to this campus for roof works, repainting and switchboard works.

“Newhaven Primary is a great local school and I’m pleased they are getting the maintenance funds they need.”

Works are determined by a rolling facilities evaluation process, which provides up-to-date information on the condition of schools to create a faster and more targeted allocation of funding.

The Victorian Government has invested $16.9 billion over the past 10 years to build new schools and deliver more than 2200 school upgrades – supporting more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.

Poowong Consolidated School has also received $101,626.99 in the latest announcement.
