Break-in at shire’s Wonthaggi depot

1 min read

THE Criminal Investigation Unit from the Wonthaggi Police is at the scene of a reported break-in at the Bass Coast Shire Council depot in Loughran Drive- Wonthaggi this morning.

It has been reported that the gate into the depot has been damaged in the incident and that keys to trucks and other equipment may have been stolen, but early reports are that none of the shire’s valuable equipment has been stolen.

It is understood that the break-in was discovered in the early hours of Monday morning but it is not known yet whether would-be thieves may have been disturbed during the incident.

But some workers, arriving to start their week early on Monday were unable to get access to their trucks and machinery in the 'Top Depot'.

For others in the "Bottom Depot", it has been “business as usual”.

Police were still continuing with their on-scene investigations until mid-morning Monday.
