Dylan Buckley headed for Toora

1 min read

TOORA Magpies will be welcoming former Blues player Dylan Buckley to their home after securing the fourth pick in the 2024 ‘The Carlton Draft’.

The five Victorian clubs chosen have made their selections with four-time flag hero Isaac Smith being taken at pick one by The Bunyip Bulldogs.

Smith, the 2022 Norm Smith Medallist and former Hawks and Cats player, was the first of five AFL legends to be snapped up by the local clubs, to play a one-off game for their Senior team.

In front of local club representatives, fans and a host of media at Crown Melbourne’s The Pub, triple premiership player and former Tigers captain, Trent Cotchin, was the next to be selected. He will swap his usual yellow and black guernsey for navy blue after being selected second overall in the draft by the Ballan Blues.

AFL Hall of Famer and Bombers premiership player Matthew Lloyd was up next, taken at pick three by Old Collegians FNC in the Warrnambool & District Football Netball League.

The Toora Magpies had the fourth pick in this year’s draft, choosing former Blues and Giants player and popular podcaster Dylan Buckley. Former Saints legend and 287-game AFL player Leigh Montagna was selected fifth overall, heading to Castlemaine FNC in the Bendigo Football Netball League.

The complete 2024 draft results are as follows:

•             Pick one: Isaac Smith – Bunyip Bulldogs, West Gippsland Football Netball Competition

•             Pick two: Trent Cotchin – Ballan Blues, Central Highlands Football League

•             Pick three: Matthew Lloyd – Old Collegians FNC, Warrnambool & District Football Netball League
