SOUTH Gippsland Caravans and Camping Centre celebrated its grand opening on Saturday.

The Leongatha-based retailer moved out to 15 Anderson Street five months ago, and chose to hold its celebration last weekend as outdoor lovers welcome the warmer months.

To celebrate the event, South Gippsland Caravans and Camping Centre held a free sausage sizzle and had its vans on display, offering exciting specials on the Aussie FiveStar range.

On top of this, customers were treated to 20 per cent discounts storewide and lots of giveaways.

The store moved from its original home in Bair Street and owner Kristie Walls is thrilled with the new location.

“It’s given us the opportunity to expand on all our camping gear and supplies. We offer a variety of brands including Ringers Western and Ariat,” she said.

“We’ve also been able to expand our range of caravans. We’re not just doing the Aussie FiveStars now, we’re also selling the hybrid vans. Eagle is a brand-new style of van that we’ve got, which is perfect for outdoor living. We’re also doing consignment (second-hand) vans. It’s given people a lot more choice now that we’ve been able to branch out.”

Kristie said the dealership had received plenty of interest from new customers thanks to the eye-catching orange shopfront.

She thanked her parents for taking the time to help with the painting and bringing the store together.

“It’s given a freshen-up to the entrance of town,” she said.

“Now that the weather is starting to get better, everyone has come back to Leongatha, and have seen where we’ve moved to. 

“We’ve also had a lot of different people come through who haven’t been in before. It’s nice to see so many people deciding to pop in.”
