MEMBERS of CFA's Community Education Team and ICC will be on hand at Grantville Transaction Centre at 1pm today to answer questions from the community about the current bushfire at The Gurdies and provide guidance, information and educational resources including your safety survival guide.
Bass Coast Shire will also be on hand talking to residents and providing a free community BBQ alongside VicPol.
The youngest members of Kernot will not miss out either on their special Santa Run, which was scheduled for today but cancelled due to The Gurdies fire. Any special little residents who are expecting a visit from Santa as part of the Kernot brigade santa run head to Grantville Transaction Centre where the event will take place in lieu of Kernot. For more information about the Santa Run head to Grantville Kernot Fire Brigades Facebook page.
On the fire front, work has been undertaken to create control lines around the fire and to extinguish any hot spots. This work will continue for the next few days with the current VicEmergency remaining at Alert level.
Furthermore, there is currently no threat to life, but you should stay informed and plan for what you will do if the situation changes.
Firefighters are using favourable weather conditions but residents and the community are urged to remain vigilant with smoke from fires burning across Victoria also impacting communities and residents.
