Leongatha’s Memorial Hall is yours, what do you want to do about it?

1 min read

WHAT should the council do with the Memorial Hall.

Maybe you like it just the way it is, and a simple refurbishment of the toilets and a bit of scheduled maintenance is all that’s needed.

Maybe you represent a local community group which already uses the town’s centrepiece and would like to see major changes.

The council wants to know what you think via survey, submission or maybe you’d consider joining the Leongatha Memorial Hall Precinct Project Reference Group.

The Leongatha Memorial Hall Precinct project will consider the feasibility of updating the heritage-listed hall to improve access and functionality and consider the potential for a broad range of community uses.

The adjoining public toilets and adjacent streetscape will also be included as part of the project.

The Leongatha Memorial Hall currently serves several functions, encompassing:

  • Performances and rehearsals
  • Council and community meetings
  • Functions and exhibitions
  • Major events
  • Gallery
  • Leongatha Historical Society

Community members who want to be more closely involved with the process can join the Leongatha Memorial Hall Project Reference group.

Council is seeking input from community members who currently use the hall and adjoining precinct, and those who would like to use the space in the future.

To submit your feedback, please visit https://yoursay.southgippsland.vic.gov.au before the survey closes on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

South Gippsland Shire Council Mayor, John Schelling is encouraging those interested to have their say.

“This is an exciting opportunity to hear from residents across South Gippsland about what they want to see from this key community asset. Your feedback will help shape how this precinct serves the community in years to come,” said Mayor Cr Schelling.
