Mulch goes down at new Loch playground

THE NEXT stage of the brand new Loch playground has been finished with ten volunteers spreading 32 cubic metres of mulch on a rainy Saturday recently.

Five of the volunteers were from the Loch Memorial Reserve Committee and five were local community members from Loch Village. Despite the downpours, the hard-working crew brought along their shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows to finish off this part of the playground in time for Christmas.

A few more items will be added in the coming weeks to complete the playground with two bench seats and a drinking fountain donated by South Gippsland Water to be installed.

“We’ve got to mount those. We’re going to put a bench seat on either end of the playground itself, and we’re waiting on South Gippsland Water to deliver our drinking fountain. Once that’s been done, we’re going to mount it at the edge of the whole thing, so the mums and dads can sit down and have a cold drink if they want to, while they’re watching their children play,” said Frank Springer, President of the Loch Memorial Reserve committee.

The Loch Memorial Reserve Committee have worked with the community in a team effort to plan, choose colours, demolish old equipment, install the new equipment and now place the mulch.

The newly installed equipment provides a new playground for the community which benefits local families and visitors.
