Myli Libraries offer school holiday fun

1 min read

There's plenty for kids to do during the school holidays at Myli library branches, with enthusiastic participants enjoying Tuesday’s Money Box Craft session in Leongatha.

Each child received a blank wooden money box in the shape of a house, choosing from a table of creative craft supplies such as pom poms, feathers, paint pens, stick-on-shapes, and tissue paper to embellish it.

“The patrons were encouraged to get creative and decorate their money box in any design they could come up with,” Library Programs Officer Kate Lochlin said.

“It was a lot of fun and everyone seemed really engaged.”

Participants Luca and Nico were clearly enjoying themselves, with their mum Donna joining in.

There is a range of other Myli activities during the holidays.

“We got to chat about other free programs coming up, like Box Head Creations and film screenings at Leongatha Library and the wonderful activities at each of our other branches,” Kate said.

The Box Head Creations session runs from 10.30am until 11.30am on Wednesday October 2, inviting children to make an imaginative and colourful box head puppet to wear.

Registration is required through eventbrite or by calling or visiting a Myli library branch.

While all holiday activities are free, there are limited numbers for each, so people are encouraged to book as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

At the time of writing there was still some availability for the School Holiday Movie Day at Leongatha Library tomorrow, Thursday 26 September, beginning at 1.30pm, with another session on Tuesday October 1 at the same time.

Create an Art Collage is on at Korumburra Library on October 1 at 2.30pm, with a Mario Kart tournament at that branch on Friday October 4.
