Police, CFA called to two-car crash in Wonthaggi

POLICE and the fire brigade are on the scene of a minor car crash in Murray Street Wonthaggi – minor in terms of personal injury, but not in terms of cost to property.

According to a local retailer, it appears that a late-model white station wagon SUV has collided with the left-hand rear side of a gold-coloured Ford Falcon sedan making both cars undriveable.

The station wagon SUV received major damage to the front of the car while it is believed the impact has damaged the rear axle and suspension of the otherwise, immaculately looking early model Falcon.

“The car is the pride and joy of the young fellow who owns it and it’s tremendously disappointing for him. The car could well be a write-off.

“Any accident that everyone walks away from is the best outcome, but it would certainly be disappointing to see the damage that’s been caused,” said a nearby retailer.

Both cars had to be towed/trucked away from the site just outside AutoPro in Wonthaggi.

Police managed the traffic around the scene while the tow truck operators did their work, while the Wonthaggi CFA was also called out to deal with a minor oil and fuel spill.

The incident happened shortly after 3pm on Friday, December 9.
