ALL emergency services resources have been brought to bear on an incident at the beach off Punch Bowl Road near San Remo on Good Friday with police search and rescue divers joining the response at about 12.45pm.
It follows the death of one person, the recovery of another and reports that a member of the family group is still missing.
Police media issued the following statement:
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a woman in San Remo this morning (Friday, April 18).
Emergency services were called to a beach off Punch Bowl Road about 8.30am on Good Friday after reports two women and a man had been washed off rocks and were in the water.
One of the women managed to make her way back to shore but the other woman and the man were unable to do so.
A search of the water was conducted with the police Air Wing locating an unresponsive woman in the water.
She was brought back to shore but could not be revived.
The search for the man continues with three helicopters engaged; the Police Air Wing, Ambulance Victoria and the Westpac Surf Rescue helicopters all scouring the waters off Punch Bowl.
Jet skis from the Woolamai Beach SLSC, SES, police, Fisheries officers and police divers were all called to the scene in the search for the missing man.
