Residential aged care services reach for the stars

1 min read

AS a public sector provider, Bass Coast Health’s (BCH) residential aged care services have always aimed to provide exceptional care. The good news is this exceptional care has now been validated by their five-star results in the recent Government Star Ratings Survey.

The ratings are based on resident feedback and assessments by the Australian Government.

Star ratings help older people, their families and carers compare the quality of aged care homes and are conducted quarterly.

BCH operates two residential aged care centres: Kirrak House at Wonthaggi Hospital and Griffiths Point Lodge Hostel at San Remo. Both centres received overall ratings of ‘Excellent’, based on ratings for Compliance, Quality Measures, Staffing and Residents’ Experience.

BCH CEO Jan Child said the results reflect how staff members at the facilities care for residents as though they were their own family.

“Our staff are passionate about providing the highest level of care. They have a primary goal of making sure our residents receive safe, high-quality care, and enjoy happy and meaningful lives,” she said.

Griffiths Point Lodge has been recently renovated internally, with new paint and flooring for residents’ rooms and the hallways. Both centres have picturesque gardens and Kirrak House also offers residents the company of Max, a resident dog, to create an even more homely setting.

Kirrak House and Griffiths Point Lodge have a registered nurse on-site 24/7, providing residents and their families with greater peace of mind.

Following the completion of renovations, BCH has vacancies at both centres.

Prospective residents and their families can learn more by phoning Griffiths Point Lodge on 5678 5311 and Kirrak House on 5671 3250. Personalised tours are available.
