ONE Tuesday, South Gippsland Mayor Cr Clare Williams and CEO Kerryn Ellis met with the State Government in Melbourne advocating for additional storm assistance for South Gippsland.
The duo met with a range of key government representatives seeking support for additional waste collection services for impacted residents, clean up assistance and relief hubs to help the region prepare and respond to future emergency events.
Mayor Williams and Ms Ellis met with Minister Melissa Horne (Local Government and Roads and Road Safety), Minister Gabrielle Williams (Government Services and Public and Active Transport), Minister Symes (Emergency Services), Minister Tierney (Regional Development), Minister Shing (Water and Housing) and Minister Suleyman (Small Business).
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Tom McIntosh MP, Member for Eastern Victoria for his assistance in helping to organise the visit to State Parliament and his ongoing support for the South Gippsland region,” said the South Gippsland Shire in a statement after returning from the trip to State Parliament.
“We would also like to thank all of the Ministers for taking the time to meet with us on Tuesday. The genuine concern expressed for our region and communities was appreciated,” said the Mayor Cr Clare Williams.
