AN Ice Rink to add a new dimension to the next Mirboo North Winterfest, a grant of $8000 also towards Fish Creek’s Summer Carnival Celebration, and $10,000 towards the replacement and of the Outtrim Moyarra Kongwak Cricket Cub’s practice nets.
It was a big night for the pet projects of local community groups when the South Gippsland Shire Council handed out its 2022/23 Round 2 Community Grants last Wednesday night July 19.
During the night, 25 applicants received funding for their projects with a total of $130,000 allocated.
The Community Grants Program aims to support community initiatives, projects and events. It is open to not-for-profit, community and volunteer organisations who may have a project or initiative that fits under the following categories:
- Minor Projects and Equipment (up to $5,000).
- Major Projects and Equipment (up to $10,000).
- Planning and Development Reports (up to $10,000).
- Festivals and Events (up to $10,000).
Delighted to be supporting a broad range of community projects was South Gippsland Mayor Cr Nathan Hersey.
“The Community Grants Program is a direct way for our community to receive support via funding from Council. These projects will go on to make a difference to not only the successful groups, but those who use their facilities and benefit from their support,” said Cr Hersey.
“With an investment from Council of just $130,000 for 25 projects and a total project cost of just over $721,000 it is easy to see the value of this program.
“I would like to personally thank those who took the time to put in applications for this round and for the work you do to make South Gippsland a better place to live for us all.
“The first round of 2023/24 Community Grants is open now. I encourage our community groups and volunteer run organisations to consider putting in an application to have your project supported by Council.”
