Wiggly fun in Wonthaggi for all

WONTHAGGI Union Arts Centre was thriving on Saturday, June 18 when the iconic Wiggles performed three shows to delighted toddlers and families.

For the first time since the new Wiggles formed, they were on tour in regional Victoria, to sing, dance and play music for their junior audience and parents were overjoyed to share in the experience with their children so close to home.

Caterina and John joined Tsehay, Lachy, Anthony and Simon, plus their Wiggly friends Dorothy the Dinosaur and Captain Feathersword on stage.

Wiggles general manager Luke Field said this concert is a part of the Wiggles regional tour, where we will present 66 shows in 22 days, finishing the tour in Bairnsdale.

“The Wiggles will be appearing in towns over the next coming weeks that they haven’t had the opportunity to visit in many years,” said Luke.

Centre box office, film and promotions officer Jacqui Francis said, this is huge for the families in town, and it was evident when the first two shows sold out within 7-minutes, allowing them to open up to a third show.

Team leader of arts and culture David Burrows said having the opportunity to present the Wiggles to the town is a testament to the growing culture and community tourism.

“This is the first performance by the Wiggles since 2011 and the theatre has since been renovated to cater for the growing tourism,” said David.
