Wonthaggi Harvesters welcome all to Garden Gems workshop

1 min read

WONTHAGGI Harvesters are excited to be part of the Garden Gems workshop series and look forward to welcoming Rick Coleman and learning about pest management in the garden.

“We are proud to be hosting our first Garden Gems session,” said Jessica Harrison, Wonthaggi Harvesters Garden coordinator.

“Our presenter Rick Coleman will be explaining natural pest management. We will learn how to control pests without using hazardous chemicals, by using insects, birds, animals, plants and mechanical techniques for integrated pest management.

“Rick has been a permaculture teacher and sustainable aid practitioner for 30 years.”

The Wonthaggi Harvesters welcomes all those who are interested to come and learn for free from the gardening expert.

The Garden Gems workshops aim to foster a culture of sustainability, health, and community connection through the joy of gardening.

Attendees can learn essential gardening skills while nurturing a deeper connection to their local environment.

The program seeks to empower participants to cultivate their own food, contributing to healthier lifestyles and a more resilient
community.

The Garden Gems project is a partnership between Bass Coast Shire Council, Bass Coast Adult Learning and community gardens across Bass Coast.

To find the Wonthaggi Harvesters Garden, walk across Apex Park over the Rail Trail, drive in on the dirt road off the south-eastern corner of the Big W car park, or bike or scooter along the Rail Trail.

The session is free and will be held on Wednesday April 24 from 10am-11.30am, and bookings are essential at trybooking.com/CQKLS.
