ALISON Stedman was nominated by the Terry White Chemmart in Korumburra for The Pharmacy Guild’s 2023 Pharmacy Assistant of the Year.
“Alison is one of the hardest workers we know who always goes above and beyond, with a heart of absolute gold! We are all super proud of you Alison, and love you to bits,” the staff from the pharmacy wrote.
Alison has been working in pharmacy for the last 20 years and started out helping on the floor.
When a position opened up, Alison moved into dispensing and subsequently undertook a course to become a Dispensary Technician.
Unbeknownst to Alison, the pharmacy nominated her for the award.
“It was an honour to be nominated by the girls, it was a lovely surprise, I certainly wasn’t expecting it. It’s not only about me, but also about the whole working staff as well. You don’t just get their on your own.”
Alison was one of 12 finalists from Victoria to make it through to the round of state workshops and interviews held last week, which then determined the finalist from each state of Australia, to go to the National awards.
“To make it through to the final 12 is really awesome,” Alison said.
Alison enjoys the friendships at the pharmacy, the versatility of her work and being able to help people out.
“The people are great, the staff here are really good, it’s just different things every day. Being able to help different ones with their medication, to chase up something, get it sorted, fix their packs to make sure that they’re right because the doctors have made a change, just sorting things out for them or if they’re going away organising their packs so they can take it all away and they don’t have to worry, it’s all done for them.”
Unfortunately, Alison didn’t make it through to the National round, but was very pleased with making it into the top 12 for the state.
