NO DOUBT aware that temperatures were set to climb above the 30-degree mark on Saturday, the crowds were in early to attend the Bass Coast Wonthaggi Summer Show.

They filled sideshow alley for the rides, showbags and food and drink and toured around the arena to see the Bass Coast Ute and 4x4 Show, to pop their heads in the door at the chook pavilion and marvelled at the superb line up of horses, including the majestic Clydesdales.

The art and produce shed was positively groaning with talented entries; art, craft, produce and more.

And there was plenty of entertainment too, starting with Phillip Island singer-songwriter Imogen Price on guitar and more to come.

But as the heat started to rise, families especially with young children started to drift away, potentially headed for the beach and a cool down in ideal summer conditions, one of the first real beach days so far these holidays.

But there’s still time to get down to the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve to see the horses, the cars, and the chooks, to enjoy some typical show food and the rides, while enjoying the day’s entertainment.
