Second serious collision on South Gippy Highway in a single day

TWO people were being airlifted to the Alfred Hospital and one person was being airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital this afternoon, just hours after another serious collision occurred on the South Gippsland Highway.

It is believed two vehicles collided head on while travelling along the Highway in Lang Lang at about 2.45pm on Tuesday October 29.

Upon arrival at the scene, emergency service crews found three occupants trapped inside their vehicles.

The occupants were extricated and transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria.

All three people were airlifted to hospital, one with critical injuries, one with life-threatening injuries, and the third with serious injuries.

Paramedics from Ambulance Victoria worked alongside seven CFA units from multiple local brigades, the SES and Victoria Police.

The incident was deemed under control by 4:00 pm and declared safe at 4:11 pm.

The Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating, and the investigation remains ongoing.

This incident follows a fatal collision which also occurred on the South Gippsland Highway near Nyora early this morning.
