A PETITION is seeking to garner enough support for the construction of a pump track at Cape Woolamai.
The petition, which seeks 1000 signatures and had almost 700 as of last week, hopes to attract the support of Bass Coast Shire, with petitioners urged to contact Island Ward councillors.
“A pump track is an asphalt circuit of rollers, banked turns and features designed for bicycles, scooters and skateboards,” the petition states.
“Riders can generate momentum by up and down body movements or 'pumping'.
“The pump track would provide recreational opportunities and a meeting place in the community for both children and adults.
“A purpose built pump track would provide a replacement of the current popular bush tracks built in our foreshore and allow vegetation to regenerate in these areas.”
