POOWONG Squash Club President, Frank Bugeja recently returned from the Australian Masters Squash Championships in Canberra after a very successful fortnight of squash.
Frank won the Australian Masters Championship, Men’s Open 80-84.
In April this year, Frank also won the Victorian Masters Championship for his age group and was then encouraged to enter the Australians.
Frank, a very fit 81-year-old, runs the Poowong Squash Club competition on a Monday and Wednesday night and plays competitively in all the Victorian Masters Tournaments held around Victoria every few months.
The AMSA Interstate Teams series was also played in Canberra and Victorian teams won four divisions and were runner-up in one.
The Poowong Squash Courts are open from 6.30pm on Monday and Wednesday nights and players of all standards are welcome.
