LEONGATHA Knights Football Club’s Women’s team played their final round of the season on Sunday (August 27) against number two on the ladder, Wonthaggi.
The victory cemented a magnificent unbeaten season for the Lady Knights; a first for their team in the club’s history.
Finishing top of the ladder also crowned them Gippsland Soccer League’s 2023 Senior Women’s League Champions. This accolade is Coach Peter Milkins’s third time finishing top of the ladder as head coach (previously 2017 and 2022).
Leongatha Lady Knights’ players Kathy Zacharopoulos and Naomi Eaton have also taken out the Golden Boot award with both finishing the season on an impressive 29 goals apiece.
The Lady Knights will be presented with their League Champions plaque and Golden Boot award at the Gippsland Soccer League presentation night to be held on Friday, September 8 where a vote count will determine the League’s Best and Fairest.
The Women’s team (along with the club’s U12s, U17s and Senior Men’s) are looking forward to the upcoming finals series to be played over the next three weeks.
