THE Phillip Island Boardriders Club (PIBC) held their Twinny Specialty event on Saturday, January 18. It was a resounding success showcasing a fantastic day of surf, camaraderie, and competition at the second car park of Cape Woolamai.
With waves delivering all day Club Captain Ash Easton and his team were treated to excellent conditions. Jake President stated that, “It was particularly exciting to see a strong turnout of groms, cadets, and juniors embracing the twinny boards, with many riding a twin fin for the very first time.”
PIBC would like to send a special thanks to shaper Leigh Johnstone of Desert Ocean Surfboards for generously providing three twin fin boards for the competition, including a brand-new board that had its debut ride at the event. As well as thanks to Beachside Bakehouse for their donations of doughnuts and bread, and to Craig Anderson for his surf photography and Andrew Lidsey for his incredible in-water shots in big Woolies.
PIBC would like to also thank sponsors for the comps' prizes - Tracks Mag, Atoll Travel, Sin Eyewear, and Creatures of Leisure. The day concluded with a post-event presentation hosted by local Cape Woolamai restaurant Bang Bang, which provided a fantastic way to wrap up the fun-filled specialty event.
